Dhanpur Taluka in Dahod is one of the poorest Talukas of Gujarat. An NGO, Utthan, went there in 1990s to help in mitigating the conditions. As they built a watershed and taught about better agriculture techniques, including wadi project of NABARD, lives started changing. Water for drinking and irrigation became available, incomes increased, migration reduced. This book is a collection of inspiring stories of the villagers who stood up against all odds to fight for survival and also how their lives were touched by Utthan’s efforts.
