Gender-based violence (GBV) is a worldwide crisis impacting one in three women throughout their lives, encompassing physical, sexual, and intimate partner violence. About 27% of women aged 15-49 have experienced intimate partner violence, while 7% have suffered non-partner sexual assault. This issue results in significant social and economic costs, reaching up to 3.7% of GDP in some countries. GBV adversely affects women’s health and can increase the risk of HIV.
